Lacking decent AFV modelling content beyond the obvious, I wandered down the rabbit hole of the dreaded Youtube sidebar.
Luckily, tucked between the usual suggestions of popular content which we all follow already and low-quality content which no-one should, there were a few gems which were new to me. So perhaps they’re new to you, too.
These four channels all debuted in 2025 or 2026. Two are AFV-specific; two include other military modelling genres. With generally high production quality, attention to detail, witty narration, and some good modelling skills on show, they grabbed my attention and I think that they deserve to do really well.
Accidentally Detailed

- Topic: Armour

Accidentally Detailed was created by a guy called Martin from Central Europe. No, not that Martin. His bio says that he likes weathering scale models and then wondering if he’s gone too far. Don’t worry, Martin, judging by what we can see so far I reckon that you’re pitching it just right.
Recommended for AFV modellers who want high quality detailing and weathering.
Sprue Tactical
- Name: Sprue Tactical
- From: Netherlands
- Topic: Armour
- First video: 2025

Good modelling channels have an angle. Sprue Tactical’s angle is that the mistakes, and the bright ideas which seemed like genius at the time, are not only on show but acknowledged with humour and tackled with determination. So we get to enjoy a little Schadenfreude while admitting inwardly that we’ve done the same, but we also get to see the hard yards which go into fixing those foot-guns.
Recommended for armour modellers who want to be entertained and informed in equal measure.
Raikisan Modelling
- Name: Raikisan Modelling
- From: Austria
- Topics: Various military
- First video: 2025

Boris of Raikisan Modelling (two Ls — nice) is my kind of modeller because he does a little of everything — or at least everything military. Not just AFVs, but trucks, artillery, aircraft, scenics, even ships.
And he used to write for a modelling website, so we’ve both done a little wordsmithing (which isn’t a word, but should be). It shows in his well-written scripts. I like the voiceover, too; kind of like Mercedes F1 boss Toto Wolff started a Youtube modelling channel.
Recommended for the genre-agnostic modeller.
EJBScaleArt
- Name: EJBScaleArt
- From: United Kingdom
- Topics: Various military
- First video: 2025
- Stats: 5.8k subs / 528k views
Finally, there’s EJBScaleArt. It’s probably better known that the others but I’ve included it for its recent content about making scenery and buildings, which is a discipline in its own right and deserves a bit more love from military modelling content creators (and yes, I should take my own advice there).
Much of Youtube’s best-quality content about this topic is created by people who’ve approached it from other directions, like fantasy or railway modelling, so I like to see armour modellers embrace it and, crucially, do it (the modelling and the content creation) to a good standard.
If EJB’s success at the Tank Museum’s model show spurs him on, I anticipate more good content of this kind on his channel before too long.
Recommended for military scenery and diorama builders.
